Campus, Morning, June 7

Vi walked across campus idly, no particular destination in mind. She
was one bored slayer. In spite of all the warnings about gremlins and
invasions and trolls, so far Fandom felt almost tame to her. Maybe her
parents had been right about the "normal environment" thing.

The phone in her pocket rang, and she grabbed for it.

"So how would you like an all-expenses-paid trip to London? All you
have to do is sit through our twenty-minute salespitch on how you,
too, can <s>make a fortune in real estate</s> save the world with
badass gymnastic moves and pointy weapons..."

"Huh?" Vi said elegantly. Then she placed the voice. "Xander? Um, which Xander?"

"...The suave one, obviously." There was a brief pause, much as if the
person on the other end of the line were silently mouthing 'WTF' only
with the words instead of the letters. "I didn't get split in two
again, really, did I? You guys would tell me, right?"

"Never mind," Vi said, waving a hand as if Xander could see it. "There's this
alternate dimension thing, and it's bizarre, and ... I have no idea
about the being split in two thing, but it sounds weird and painful.
And what did you just say about London?"

"Not so much painful as-- Right, London. Infestation of
invisible demons in the old Watcher's Council ruins."

"They can be invisible?" Vi asked, more or less rhetorically. "How do
we do the fighty thing on them without seeing them? And don't say this
is another instincts thing."

"Okay, this is me not saying that." There was another moment of
silence, then Xander said, "No, we're working on the visible part, but
the kicker is they're camped out in what's left of the library. Want
to guess where the book that has the spell we need is?"

"I think I know this one. Is it right exactly where the demons keep
kicking our asses?" Vi shifted her phone to the other hand, trying to keep her voice casual. "So ... you guys want me to come over and try to help?"

"It's like they have a map labeled 'Here be asses. And they can't see
you so feel free to kick them.' Buffy needs to take a team in to fight
'em off while strikeforce two goes for the books, and she'd rather
have people she knows she can work with for this.:

"I'm there," Vi said, both honored and possibly slightly
inappropriately bouncy given the whole this-could-get-you-killed
thing. But hey, Slayer. "Or I will be. I need to get to the airport
and fly to -- Heathrow, right? But tell Buffy I'm coming in, like,
five seconds. Anything I need to bring?"

"Just you. And no extra copies of me - I've only got two of these outfits."

Vi laughed, but made plans to pull her stakes from the weapons locker
before she left. "No extra yous. Not a problem, it'd be hard to fit in
my luggage anyhow. I'll call back once I know when my flight will
land."

"Oh, and thanks for asking me."

"No problem - we'll send somebody to get you at the airport. Just, ah,
make sure the edged weapons go in checked luggage. Not that I say this
from experience..."

"Nothing pointy in the carry-on. At all," Vi promised earnestly. "I
won't even bring a pencil for the crossword in the airline magazine."

She knew she was going to get embarrassingly squee-ish if she tried
to stay on the line longer, plus packing and getting onto a plane (and
off of the island) would take time that she didn't have to waste if
there were things to fight. She said her goodbyes and hung up,
grinning from ear to ear.

[OOC: Preplayed with the lovely and amazing needsaparrot. No, I am not having a baby just yet, but I think I'm distracted enough by real life that it's time for me to officially put Vi on hold. She'll be back sometime.]

Chupacabra Cabin, Alcove A4, early Sunday afternoon

Vi was trying to sleep in, but she was too excited to manage it, even on a Sunday.

Fandom was not at all what she expected. For one, she couldn't keep her stakes, which was really, really annoying. And, as she and her future roommate -- just one, yay -- had discussed, the school wasn't standing. Then there was the giant-turtle-who-was-not-a demon, duh a few alcoves away, though her other cabinmates seemed pretty nice. (Though being one of only two girls was a total change from Sunnydale. But there was more hot water in the shower!)

And somehow, Dawn from another dimension was there. If her brain hadn't been fractured pretty much for the last six months, Vi was sure that would have broken it. Not that the other students weren't managing to shatter the pieces a little more.

Vi laid on her bed with a notebook, fidgeting and trying to start a letter to Rona. "You'll never believe this" seemed too gentle a first sentence.

[OOC: Mostly for the big brother, but open. And she is not bunking with the turtle!]
